Food Pathogens Detection Kit

Food-borne illness from microbiological sources is one of the major problems for Food Safety, and being a growing public health problem in both developed and developing countries. Additionally, it is important to monitor typical spoilage organisms during production to reduce health problems and economic losses due to food recall.

Molecular recognition methods for foodborne pathogen detection are becoming increasingly popular as real-time PCR assays can provide highly specific and sensitive pathogen detection in a shorter period of time when compared to common culture-based methods. This rapid detection of foodborne pathogens and other microorganisms in complex food matrices is critical for maintaining food quality and ensuring consumer safety. The time interval between analysis and obtaining results is of utmost importance for foods and food products with short shelf lives, such as fresh meat, fish, dairy products, and vegetables.

ALScreen kits for foodborne pathogen detection are developed based on the corresponding ISO standards that define the real-time PCR methods for the detection of specific microorganisms in food and feed matrices. The kits include positive controls as well as extraction controls when required by the standards.

Meat Speciation detection Kit

Mislabeling of food for fraudulent purposes is a long-standing and widespread problem, particularly in products with high economic value such as meat and meat-based products. In recent years, following “scandals” such as the horsemeat scandal, consumer interest in the authenticity of meat products has increased. Many consumers are concerned about the meat they eat, and correct labeling is an important means of enabling the consumer to make an informed choice.

ALScreen Meat ID is a premium quality molecular biology solution to provide the general laboratory and research personnel an easy and ready-to-use kit for the detection of specific meat species. Under optimal conditions, these kits provide remarkable sensitivity, granting the detection of at least 0.1% adulteration. It provides a Real-Time PCR method for detecting target species mitochondrial DNA in food, feed and environmental samples. The kits were designed to allow the simultaneous amplification (in multiplex) of the target meat species and an Internal Amplification Control (IAC) to exclude false negatives due to PCR inhibition. The duplex detection system helps maximize the amplification accuracy and simplify the reaction set-up.

SARS-CoV-2 Surveillance Kit

Molecular recognition methods for pathogen detection are becoming increasingly popular as real-time PCR assays are currently recognized as the gold-standard technique to detect SARS-CoV-2. These are capable of providing highly specific and sensitive pathogen detection in a shorter period of time when compared to common culture-based methods. We offer SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR detection kits for human diagnostics (CE-IVD) and environmental testing, particularly surface swab and wastewater samples, as there is an increasing concern in monitoring the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in the environment.

ALS SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex RT-PCR Test The ALS SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex RT-PCR Test kit is an in vitro diagnostic medical device based on Real-Time PCR (RT-PCR) nucleic acid amplification technology for the detection of isolated SARS-CoV-2 RNA from nasal, nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal exudates or of nasal, endotracheal and bronchoalveolar lavage/aspirate obtained from individuals with suspected COVID-19. Together with other relevant clinical and epidemiological data, the results of the detection of viral RNA in human samples serve as an aid to the diagnosis of COVID-19 by qualified health professionals.

ALS SARS-CoV-2 RT-LAMP The ALS SARS-CoV-2 RT-LAMP kit is an in vitro diagnostic test that uses RT-LAMP technology for the qualitative detection of two specific regions of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in specimens collected from the upper respiratory tract (nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs). This kit should be used as a screening method for individuals with and without suspicion of COVID-19 disease, and as an alternative to the reference method for diagnosis of COVID-19 (real-time PCR). The test is particularly suitable for detecting SARS-CoV-2 in people who are in the infectious phase. The results of the ALS SARS-CoV-2 RT-LAMP kit represent the patient infection status at the time the test was performed. Negative results do not exclude SARS-CoV-2 infection and should not be used as the sole basis for patient treatment decisions. A presumptive positive result should be further verified by real-time PCR. The ALS SARS-CoV-2 RT-LAMP kit is suitable for use in point-of-care (e.g. physician’s offices, emergency care centres, schools, airports, nursing homes) and in hospital or clinical laboratory settings. The RT-LAMP reaction takes between 30-40 minutes, depending on the chosen analysis method (fluorescence or colorimetry). ALS-C03-Adv INVITEK Molecular

GMO Detection Kit

Consumers have the right to know if the food they eat is safe, regardless of how it is produced or developed. Today several companies produce genetically modified organisms (GMOs), which lack studies and research to ensure the necessary safety. The European Council Regulation (EC) (No. 834/2007) regulates the use and labeling of GMO in food and feed (European labeling requirements 1829/2003 and 1830/2003).

ALScreen GMO Detection is a premium quality molecular biology solution to provide the general laboratory and research personnel an easy and ready-to-use kit for the detection of GMOs. Screening of samples is performed through the detection of regulatory sequences often introduced in genetically modified plants, using the PCR technique. Because of its extensive use in the first generation of GMO, detection of the cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) 35S promoter and Agrobacterium tumefaciens nopaline synthase (NOS) terminator are the most used target genes for GMO screening in routine testing analysis. In addition, the Figwort mosaic virus 34S promoter (pFMV) gene can also be screened, as a consequence of the fact that the CaMV 35S promoter and the NOS terminator genes are absent in some new transgenic constructs. The kit combines the gold standard screening method, based on the detection of the CaMV 35S promoter and the NOS terminator genes by Real-Time PCR, described in ISO 21569:2005, with the detection of FMV promoter.

ALScreen – CaMV Detection kit is a premium quality molecular biology solution to provide the general laboratory and research personnel an easy and quick ready-to-use kit for the detection of CaMV virus DNA. In plants naturally infected with viruses or samples contaminated with virus-bearing plant material, positive results for the 35S promoter cannot be implicitly identified as GMOs. In these cases, the samples may be identified as a false positive result for GMO. It is therefore important to differentiate between food products that contain GMOs and non-GMO products naturally infected with the CaMV virus.
